BIDDING PRAYERS: SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER

24th April 2022

Priest:             Lord God, with confidence and trust we bring our prayers to you, knowing that your same love which raised Jesus from the silence of the tomb also hears the deepest yearning of our hearts.

Reader:          For Pope Francis and all leaders of our Church; that they might bring the light of hope into the hearts of people.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For peace in our world, especially in Ukraine; that in this holy season, the grace and peace of the risen Lord may enter the hearts of all those involved in conflicts and show the way to true peace.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For those who, like Thomas, have times of doubt; may the Lord reveal the truth of his presence to them, especially in challenging times.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For those who are living with fear and anxiety; on this Feast of Divine Mercy may the risen Lord be close to them grant them comfort and peace.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For the success of our parish pilgrimage to the Holy Land and our High School Mission which both take place this week; may these sacred events bring many graces to those who are involved, to their families and friends and to the whole community.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us remember especially today (Elizabeth Prescott: Vigil Mass); (Bob Snape): 9.30 am Mass); (Ian Woan: 11am Mass); (The Parish: 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.

Also, all those who have died recently, especially, June Ritchie, Bob Snape, Fr Matthew Burns OSB & Fr Bob Faricy SJ. May they share in Christ’s victory over death.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause). Mary witnessed the death and resurrection of her Son; we ask her to help teach us the Easter mystery:

                        Hail Mary …

Priest:             Father of our Saviour and Redeemer, you lead your people from defeat to triumph, from darkness to light: hear and grant these prayers which your people place before you on this day, through Christ our risen Lord. Amen.
