BIDDING PRAYERS: Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Word Doc: 220814 Assumption
14 August 2022
Priest: Blessed is she who trusted that the Lord’s words to her would be fulfilled. Like Mary, let us now trust that he will hear our prayers:
Reader: For the Church; that she, like the Virgin Mary, may bring Christ into the world with joy, and be joined with him in endless life.
Lord in your mercy … Hear our prayer
Reader: For government leaders; that the Assumption of Mary may awaken them to the supreme dignity of each human life.
Lord in your mercy… Hear our prayer
Reader: For all mothers; that they may find in Mary the example and strength to carry out their vocation.
Lord in your mercy… Hear our prayer
Reader: For the lowly, the hungry and the dispossessed; that the Almighty will do great things in their lives and in the lives of all who are deprived of human dignity.
Lord in your mercy… Hear our prayer
Reader: For our own parish community; that, inspired by Mary’s witness of faith and her holiness of life, we may always be positive signs of hope.
Lord in your mercy… Hear our prayer
Reader: For all who are sick or suffering in any way; that they may find strength, consolation, and healing by turning to Mary, who intercedes for us from her place in heaven.
Lord in your mercy… Hear our prayer
Reader: Let us remember especially today (Elizabeth Prescot, Vigil Mass); The Parish 10 am Mass); (George Duckworth, 6.30pm Mass) for whom this Mass is offered.
And also, all the Holy Souls and all those who have died recently, especially Francis Roe; may they rest in peace and rise in glory.
Lord in your mercy… Hear our prayer
Reader: Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause). We ask Mary, Assumed into heaven, to join with us in our prayers: Hail Mary …
Priest: God our Father, by bringing Mary, body and soul, to heavenly glory, you give us new hope. May we never doubt that you will hear and answer our prayers. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
