BIDDING PRAYERS: Word Doc: 220327 4Lent
4TH SUNDAY OF LENT; 27 March 2022
Priest: Let us offer our intercessions to our heavenly Father, who like the Father of the Prodigal Son, is abounding in mercy and compassion for His children.
Reader: For the Church; that the People of God, may be built up by the challenge of prophetic voices and our ready response to God’s love for us.
Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer
Reader: For peace in our world, especially in Ukraine at the present time; we invoke the presence of God, as Pope Francis tells us, “we need the closeness of God and the certainty of his forgiveness, which alone eliminates evil, disarms resentment and restores peace to our hearts”.
Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer
Reader: For those forced to flee from their homes; may we all respond with kindness and hospitality to those who seek refuge in fear and heartbreak.
Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer
Reader: On this “Mothering Sunday” we pray for the mothers of our community and all who take a mother’s role; may they be blessed and guided by God in all that they do to care for their children.
Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer
Reader: For our Parish; that our common Lenten observances may see an outpouring of grace on our community, bringing people to faith and newness of life.
Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer
Reader: Let us remember especially today (Denis Hopwood, Vigil Mass); (Francis John and Elizabeth Dowbakin, 9.30 am Mass); (Charles Sergeant 11am Mass); (The Parish, 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.
Also, all the faithful departed, especially, John Russell Keany, John Thorpe, and those who have died recently, may they be raised up on the last day.
Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer
Reader: Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause). On this Mothering Sunday we ask Our Blessed Mother to intercede for us: Hail Mary …
Priest: God Our Father, hear these petitions which your people place before you on this day. Help us to recognise your love for us, most of all through the Paschal Mystery of your Son, who lives and reigns for ever and ever Amen.
