BIDDING PRAYERS: 7th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

20th February 2022

Priest:             As children of the Most High, we turn to him in prayer to express the needs of all people, knowing that He who is kind and full of compassion will hear our prayer:

Reader:          For the Church; may we be a community following truly the teaching of Jesus, forsaking judgment and offering forgiveness in full measure.

Lord in your mercy;  hear our prayer

Reader:          For peace in our world, especially in Ukraine at the present time; that God will turn the hearts of leaders of nations to seek ways of dialogue and diplomacy to solve disputes and conflicts.

Lord in your mercy;  hear our prayer

Reader:          For our society; may we always seek to build a community of justice and respect for all people, whatever their culture, race or gender.

Lord in your mercy;  hear our prayer

Reader:          We pray for survivors of oppression and abuse; may their voices be heard, and may they be given the support they require to persevere with courage in rebuilding their lives

Lord in your mercy;  hear our prayer

Reader:          For all who are sick or in pain or facing any kind of difficulty; may God lift them up and grant them strength, hope and healing.

Lord in your mercy;  hear our prayer

Reader:          For our Parish; may we respond to the challenge of the message of Christ to love our enemies, seeking to create means of reconciliation rather than clinging to established patterns of division.

Lord in your mercy;  hear our prayer

Reader:          Let us remember especially today (Elizabeth Prescott: Vigil Mass); (Brenda Towers: 9.30 am Mass); (The Parish: 11am Mass); (Richard, Monica & John Reid: 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.

And also, all the faithful departed, especially Bernard Murphy and those who have died recently; may they rest in peace and rise in glory.

Lord in your mercy;  hear our prayer

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).

We ask Mary, our Mother, to join her prayers to ours: Hail Mary …

Priest:             God Our Father, we beseech you to hear our intercessions and help us to recognise your response to our prayers which we make through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
