BIDDING PRAYERS: 8th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
27th February 2022
Priest: My brothers and sisters, let us join together to pray for the needs of all humanity, our Church, and ourselves, trusting in God’s merciful love.
Reader: For the Church; may we be a community following truly the teaching of Jesus, forsaking judgment and offering forgiveness in full measure.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: For peace in our world, especially in Ukraine at the present time; that God will turn the hearts of leaders of nations to seek ways of dialogue and diplomacy to solve disputes and conflicts.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: For wisdom and discretion in our expression of opinion; may our conversations and, especially our online and social media comments, be considerate towards others and tempered by consciousness of our own frailties and imperfections.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: For all who are sick or in pain or facing any kind of difficulty; may God lift them up and grant them strength, hope and healing.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: For the grace to make a good Lent; as we enter the Season of Lent this week, may we practice prayer, fasting and almsgiving as a means of focussing on what is truly important in our lives.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: For our Parish; in the light of the Synod called by Pope Francis, may we listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and seek true paths of “Communion, Participation and Mission” to renew the Church in our age.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: Let us remember especially today (Philip Morris: Vigil Mass); (Joe & Lizzie Dowbakin: 9.30 am Mass); (John Purdie: 11am Mass); (The Parish: 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.
And also, all the faithful departed, especially those who have died recently; may they rest in peace and rise in glory.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).
We ask Mary, our Mother, to join her prayers to ours: Hail Mary …
Priest: Heavenly Father, hear the prayers of your people and grant our petitions out of the same love with which you created us, through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
