BIDDING PRAYERS:
PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD
Priest: As we enter Holy Week, we remember the pain and the passion of Jesus; and we bring now before our heavenly Father our own pains and those of our world.
Reader: For Pope Francis; that his witness to love and service, as he washes the feet of prisoners this week, may be a reminder and inspiration to all those who exercise leadership roles.
Lord in your mercy …………………………………. Hear our prayer
Reader: For our priests; that, as they renew their commitment to the office of priesthood at the Chrism Mass this week, they will be strengthened by God’s grace and supported and encouraged by those they seek to serve.
Lord in your mercy …………………………………. Hear our prayer
Reader: For peace in our world, especially in Ukraine at the present time; may world leaders recognise the call of God to mercy rather than vengeance.
Lord in your mercy …………………………………. Hear our prayer
Reader: For those forced to flee from their homes; may we all respond with kindness and hospitality to those who seek refuge in fear and heartbreak.
Lord in your mercy …………………………………. Hear our prayer
Reader: For our Parish as we enter Holy Week and the Triduum; may we experience a unity and strength on our personal journeys through suffering and death to the fullness of life.
Lord in your mercy …………………………………. Hear our prayer
Reader: Let us remember especially today (David Michael Topping, Vigil Mass); (Bernadette Ryles 9.30 am Mass); (Christopher Tipping, 11am Mass); (The Parish, 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.
And also, all the faithful departed, especially, Fr John McNamara, Veronica ‘June’ Ritchie and Russell Keany who have died recently; may they be raised up on the last day.
Lord in your mercy ………………………………… Hear our prayer
Reader: Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause). Mary witnessed all the events of Holy Week and we ask her to join with us in our prayers: Hail Mary …
Priest: Heavenly Father, hear our prayers with love and compassion, for they are made in the name of the one whose life, death and resurrection brings salvation and hope to the whole world, Jesus Christ your Son, our Lord. Amen.
