BIDDING PRAYERS: 6th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
13th February 2022
Priest: Gathered as a faith community to celebrate God’s unfailing love and mercy, we now turn to him in prayer:
Reader: For the Church; that all who lead and guide us in our faith may be examples of true witness to Christ’s compassion for all.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: For peace in our world, especially in Ukraine at the present time; that God will turn the hearts of leaders of nations to seek ways of dialogue and diplomacy to solve disputes and conflicts.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: On this Racial Justice Sunday, we pray for those who suffer the injustice of racism; that all humanity may unite as one in working for harmony, justice and peace.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: For a deeper understanding of true love; as we celebrate St Valentine’s Day this week, may we encourage people to see beyond the superficial displays of love to recognise that true love is responding to God’s love for us.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: For all who are sick or in pain, or facing any kind of difficulty; may God lift them up and grant them strength, hope and healing.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: Let us remember especially today (Edmond Carmody: Vigil Mass); (The Parish: 9.30 am Mass); (Bernard Raby: 11am Mass); (John Doherty: 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.
And also, all the faithful departed, especially Bernard Murphy and those who have died recently; may they rest in peace and rise in glory.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).
We ask Mary, our Mother, to join her prayers to ours: Hail Mary …
Priest: Almighty Father, we trust in your love. Hear the prayers we offer today, both those proclaimed here, and those we carry in our hearts at this Mass. We offer them all upon your altar through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
