BIDDING PRAYERS: 5th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
6th February 2022
Priest: To God our Father whose glory fills heaven and earth, let us pray in the name of Christ, who came among us as our Teacher and Master
Reader: We pray for all the leaders of our Church; may they recognise, like the prophet Isaiah, their own unworthiness in standing before the holiness of God and yet as he did, have the courage to continue to say “Here I am, send me”.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: Let us pray for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth; on the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne, we give thanks for her unstinting service and her strong witness to her Christian faith. May God bless her and our country.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: We pray for those who do not know Jesus; may they experience his presence in their daily lives and hear his call to “put out into the deep” where they can discover the miraculous things He does in our lives.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: For all those who are sick; may the healing hand of the Lord be upon them.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: For our Parish; may we respond to the call of Jesus to follow Him and be “fishers of men”
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: Let us remember especially today (Maurice Cookson: Vigil Mass); (Mary Noblett: 9.30 am Mass); (The Parish: 11am Mass); (Frank Bevan: 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.
And also, all the faithful departed, especially Bernard Murphy and those who have died recently; may they rest in peace and rise in glory.
Lord in your mercy; hear our prayer
Reader: Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause). We ask Mary, our Mother, to join her prayers to ours: Hail Mary …
Priest: Almighty Father, we trust in your love. Hear the prayers we offer today, both those proclaimed here, and those we carry in our hearts at this Mass. We offer them all upon your altar through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
