BIDDING PRAYERS:  WORD DOC: 221009 28c

28TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

9th October 2022

Priest: As the ten lepers came to the Lord to ask for healing, we come to Him now and petition Him for the needs of Church, the world, and our own personal needs.

Reader: For the Church in our land; on the feast day of St John Henry Newman may we promote a faith founded on intelligent reflection and a committed pursuit of the truth.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader: For those in our world who suffer exile and oppression especially the people of Syria and Ukraine; as the Syrian Naaman was healed by the Lord, so may the Lord raise up new prophets like Elisha to bring healing and integration between the nations.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader: For those who are made to feel like lepers in our community, may we strive to reach out to prisoners, refugees, the homeless and all forced to live on the periphery of our society, showing them love and compassion of Christ.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader: For the work of CAFOD; may we support their work to bring help to those who are most in need in our world.

Lord hear us …………………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader: For each one of us gathered here today; may we be inspired with the grace of thankfulness for all the blessings of our lives and show true thanksgiving in the worthy celebration of this Eucharist

Lord hear us …………………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader: Let us remember especially today those for whom this Mass is offered.

And also, all the Holy Souls and all those who have died recently, especially, Fr Cassian Dickie, Monsignor Tom Mulheran & Fr John Mackie may they rest in peace and rise in glory.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader: Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause). We ask Mary, our Mother, to join with us in our prayers: Hail Mary …

Priest: Heavenly Father, we place these intentions before you today and ask that you hear and grant them, through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
