BIDDING PRAYERS:

 14TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Priest:             Gathered as a faith community to celebrate God’s unfailing love and mercy, we now turn to him in prayer:

Reader:           For the Church, the Holy People of God; as lambs in the midst of wolves, may we trust in the strength given us by the Lord at this Eucharist to face the challenges of witnessing to our faith in an ever more secular society.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           For those who are persecuted for their faith; may they gain strength from the words of Jesus in today’s gospel, that, because of the witness of the disciples, he “saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven”.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           For those coming to the end of the academic year; may they reflect on the many graces received during this year and may those coming to the end of their time at a school or period of study move on to the next stage of their lives with the confidence that God walks with them.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           For those in medicine, nursing, health services and pastoral care; as co-workers with Christ, may their loving kindness bring those in their care towards the fullness of health both in body and soul.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           For the families of our community; may they be safe harbours of peace and security, most especially for our children and young people.

Lord hear us………………………………….….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           For those young people receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation this weekend; may the Holy grant his seven-fold gifts to encourage them in their lives of faith.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           Let us remember especially today (Thomas Craven, Vigil Mass); (Richard & Barbara Sharples, 9.30 am Mass); (Jack Allsop, 11.00am Mass); (The Parish, 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.

Also, all those who have died recently, especially Gerard Melling, Thomas Counsell, Anthony Towey, Ann Brenda Allen, Paul Towey, & Ron Sharples; may they rest in peace and rise in glory.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:           Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).   We ask Mary, our Mother, to join with us in our prayers: Hail Mary …

Priest:             Heavenly Father, your Son invoked your name in prayer while here on earth among us, we now follow his pattern and offer you these prayers.  We ask that you hear and grant them, through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
