7th Sunday of Easter  –  Year A

In between the Feast of The Ascension and Pentecost there are nine days. The first reading today tells us that all the disciples, including His Blessed Mother, gathered together after the Ascension and “they joined in continuous prayer”. Thus since the days of the early church, these nine days or “novena” have always been regarded as the “Great Novena”. Days when the whole church joins together in a time of intense prayer to await the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Also in the Gospel we hear Jesus praying in a very powerful way to Father in Heaven during his Final Discourses, for all of us to recognize the love of God that is within us.  Pray intensely this week that the Holy Spirit will flood into lives the Pentecost, especially coming those who are most in need.
