BIDDING PRAYERS:

1ST SUNDAY OF ADVENT  28 November 2021

Priest:             As we start our preparations for the birth of our Saviour, let us open up our hearts in prayer to Him and with confidence seek His ever generous assistance.

Reader:          For the Church; as we enter the season of Advent, may the Church renew its mission to bring the Good News of Jesus to our world, reaching out In particular to those who have been disillusioned through scandal, disappointment or indifference.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For our country; may our society be built on the gospel values of justice, peace and respect for God’s created world and al his people.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For those who are seeking places of refuge, especially those who died trying to cross the English Channel this week; may all people find places of safety to live

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          We pray that people may have a sense of hopeful expectation this Advent; may we focus on the things of true value and not allow the pressure of commercialism to cloud the awe and wonder of this season.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For those who are suffering from illness in body mind or spirit; may our parish community seek ways to reach out to those around us who are in need and foster in their hearts a spirit of hope.

Lord hear us …………………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us remember especially today (Jim & Lesley Morris, Vigil Mass); (The Parish, 9.30 am Mass); (Doreen Singleton 11am Mass); (The Holy Souls, 6.30pm Mass) for whom this Mass is offered.

And also, all the Holy Souls and all those who have died recently, especially Cheryl Hooton, Roland Parkinson, Linda Malliband, Marie Burton and Fr Lionel Devaney. May they rest in peace and rise in glory.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).   We ask Mary, our Mother, to join with us in our prayers: Hail Mary …

Priest:             Father, we implore your blessing on our Advent preparations, as we make these and all our prayers.  Through Christ, our Lord, Amen.
