BIDDING PRAYERS    Download Word Doc here:  220313 2Lent

2nd SUNDAY OF LENT; 13th March 2022

Priest:             In the name of Jesus, who was transfigured while at prayer, let us pray now for the needs of all God’s people.

Reader:          For the Church; in the light of the Synod called by Pope Francis, may we listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and seek true paths of “Communion, Participation and Mission” to renew the Church in our age.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          For peace in our world, especially in Ukraine at the present time; that God will turn the hearts of leaders of nations to seek ways of dialogue and diplomacy to solve disputes and conflicts.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          For those forced to flee from their homes; may we all respond with kindness and hospitality to those who seek refuge in fear and heartbreak.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          We pray for the work of Cafod and other aid agencies; may our offerings for Family Fast Day raise both awareness in ourselves of those who are in need, and funding for their many projects around the world.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          That this Lent may enlighten our eyes in the Faith; may we recognise God’s covenant with us, through the law and the prophets coming to fulfilment in the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          For our Parish; may we recognise the wonderful moments of the glory of the Lord when they occur in our lives and in our world.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          Let us remember especially today (Thomas Craven: Vigil Mass); (Bernadette Ryles: 9.30 am Mass); (The Parish: 11am Mass); (May Marron: 6.30pm) for whom this Mass is offered.

Also, all the faithful departed, especially those who have died recently, including, June Gent and Fr Patrick Quinlan; may they be raised up on the last day.

Lord in your mercy ……………………………….Hear our prayer

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).   We ask Mary, our Mother, to join her prayers to ours: Hail Mary …

Priest:             Heavenly Father, we entreat you this day with these and all our prayers which we offer now upon your altar, through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
