BIDDING PRAYERS:  PENTECOST SUNDAY

Priest:             Filled with the Holy spirit, let us pray for the common good of the whole human family.

Reader:          For God’s holy Church, gathered from every nation under heaven; may we proclaim, in every language, the awesome message of truth, goodness and justice as revealed to us by the Holy Spirit.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          We pray for the Holy Spirit to come to us this Pentecost Day and renew the face of the earth; may our Church and our world be flooded with the gifts of wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          We pray for Elizabeth, our Queen as we celebrate her Platinum Jubilee; may she continue to know the steadfast love of God and serve her people faithfully.

Lord hear us ……………………………….Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For our government and all those who are elected to serve our communities; may they pay heed to Our Lord’s invocation to unity and seek ways to serve the common good.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For those whose life is difficult, for those whose hearts are closed, for those who are bereaved, and for those who have gone astray: may the spirit comfort and heal, cleanse and restore.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          For our Parish; May the spirit renew the gifts given to us confirmation and make us witnesses to peace and reconciliation as we conclude the season of paschal joy.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us remember: (Vigil: Maurice Cookson & Leslie Parker; 9.30: The Parish; 11: John Thurston & Dorothy Sergeant; 6.30: Irene Turner) for whom this Mass is offered.

Also, all those who have died recently; including, Michael Hehir, Harry Pressman, May Smith, Carl Molloy and Anne Parkinson may they rest peace and rise in glory.

Lord hear us …………….………………………Lord graciously hear us

Reader:          Let us pray for our own private intentions; (pause).

We pray for the descent of the Holy Spirit on us today:  Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.  Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created; and you will renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray: O God, who has taught hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that by the gifts of the same Spirit, we may be always truly wise, and ever rejoice in your consolation, Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Priest:             Heavenly Father, your Son invoked your name in prayer while here on earth among us, we now follow his pattern and offer you these prayers.  We ask that you hear and grant them, through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
